The Mycelium Delta Project was born out of the desire to approach education and conservation a little differently. With a student and community centered mindset, we aim to build lasting, meaningful connections between humans and the natural world.
Heather Skye, founder of MDP, is a lifetime student of nature and conservation and has been teaching in some capacity since 2002. Heather graduated with a BFA from Kent State University in 2011; started her own art business in 2013; became an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist in 2016 just weeks after her first of two sons was born; completed a Community Herbal Intensive in 2018; worked several years as an outdoor education specialist; and founded MDP in 2025. She has also assisted with the quarterly publication for the Native Plant Society of Northeast Ohio since 2020. Heather continues to pursue her passions for permaculture, silviculture, ecology, herbalism, foraging, and guiding others to connect with nature.
Beginning as an idea to help other humans to nourish their connection with nature in the greater Cleveland area, The Mycelium Delta Project plans to evolve into a platform for alternative learning models and a guide for others to build their own programs and communities.
